At 60 & 90 years our capacity for strength building is similar - this is what more & more studies are indicating & its great news for all of us.
For a long time it was thought that our capacity for strength continually declines over the age of 30, and while it is true that our capacity drops, it appears that this decline stabilises and new research is indicating that between the ages of 60 & 90 this capacity may not change noticably at all.
We already know that increased muscle mass & strength leads to better metabolism of sugars, better agility & bone health.
When these groups of older adults were studied it showed that there were similar results between the 60 year old and 90 year old control groups in terms of capacity to build muscle tissue, strength & functionality.
While these are limited, small scale studies, this news is promising & can help us stay more confidently active as we age.

and exploring at the female specific research more closely:
One study indicates that females may see greater strength gains compared to males who see increased lean body mass:
We will continue to share some of the new research with and explore what it means in real terms & the value it can bring.
I'll also be sharing some of the excellent exercises classes, groups, studios & strength and conditioning we have in the local community, who are ready to help you get active & enjoy movement at all ages and stages!
